A little about me…

Quite honestly, I cannot recall a day when my mind was not consumed by food. Early mornings in the garden, afternoons lost in cookbooks and periodicals, hours in the market, and then the kitchen. I think about dinner before I have breakfast. Errands revolve around sourcing ingredients.

My mother was, and still is a phenomenal cook, who as luck would have it married a pilot. He valued family and travel experiences over regular school attendance. So long as one’s studies were up to snuff, absences were frequent. Add in their respective food centric family heritages; what chance did I have to not end up in the business?

I finally became a student at the French Culinary Institute in New York city, as shall we say, an adult. The second eldest among my student peers. On one of my first days I rode up the elevator with none other than Dean Jacques Pepín. I knew then I was hooked. Culinary school helped refine my skills, while improving technique, speed and multitasking.

Then it was time to find a position. I was fortunate to land in a busy kitchen with a highly regarded and well known Executive Chef in Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey. Talk about trial by fire. The beginning days were exhilarating with a side of sheer terror. One day the pastry cook quit, I was pulled from the line and tasked with breads and desserts — invaluable experience, and no small task for a restaurant serving a couple hundred covers or more per day in the busy season.

By the time I worked at three well run, successful restaurants and survived a move to the south shore of Massachusetts with two teenagers, two guinea pigs, two cats and my dear spouse; it was time for Divine Culinary Enterprises. This way I could manage home, hearth, freelance culinary work while completing graduate work at Boston University in Gastronomy.

Whatever circumstance brought you to us, we welcome you and look forward to being of service.
